Villasimius is located in the region of South-Eastern Sardinia and in the province of Cagliari whilst located about 35 kilometres east of the Provincial Capital: Cagliari (with a population of 420,117). Highlights of this province include Nora, Torre Delle Stelle, Pula, Mari Pintau, Solanas, and Villasimius. The area surrounding Villasimius, a coastal town, is the Marine Protected Area Capo Carbonara which offers unique dive sites. In the winter migrating flamingos can be spotted in the lagoon of Stagno di Noterri.
