SALES
For a boat in Cantabria, EYB brings together head-office management, local support, a qualified lawyer, international marketing and an experienced multilingual sales team.
EYB asks owners to begin with head office, providing the boat’s key details and its current port in Cantabria. This allows the team to discuss the boat and give an initial valuation before the owner decides whether to appoint EYB.
If both sides wish to proceed, they agree the mandate and sale conditions. EYB’s commission is a flat 5%, and the mandate sets out this fee with the other terms of the sale appointment.
With those terms established, head office coordinates the campaign and keeps the owner informed about buyer interest, viewings and offers. An initial valuation is an assessment based on available information, not a guaranteed selling price.

EYB combines central coordination with support close to the boat. Head office manages the wider sale and links the owner, legal team, marketing department and sales team, while local support can help with enquiries about the boat’s marina and arrange visits.
This matters in Cantabria, where buyers may want practical information about the berth, access or local arrangements before making a journey. A contact familiar with the area can help explain those details and coordinate a viewing with the seller.
The network also gives a locally based boat exposure to buyers beyond its home port.
A qualified lawyer supports the transaction from its written instruction to completion. EYB’s lawyer prepares the sales mandate, draws up the sale contract and deals with registration and other relevant administrative requirements.
The mandate is where the owner and EYB record the sale appointment and its terms. The contract later documents the arrangement accepted by the buyer and seller. Both are prepared for the particular transaction rather than treated as interchangeable paperwork.
For owners selling in Cantabria, the lawyer can work with the vessel records and details provided during the sale. This legal support sits alongside the broker’s and sales team’s work; it does not replace independent professional advice where a party needs it.
A listing needs to be visible and useful. EYB’s marketing department uses SEO, social media and the relevant national and international boat-sales platforms to bring the boat to prospective buyers.
The team prepares the presentation around the actual vessel: specifications, equipment, condition, history, photographs and location in Cantabria. Clear, supportable details help clients decide whether the boat fits their needs and what questions to ask next.
Marketing does not end when the listing goes live. The department can coordinate changes to the presentation with the sales team as enquiries arrive, while ensuring that published information reflects what the owner has confirmed.
Multilingual communication is part of the sales process. EYB’s team handles enquiries from prospective buyers, organises viewings and supports negotiation through to the agreed next steps.
The team works with the owner to answer questions about a boat in Cantabria and coordinate a visit. Where local help is useful, it can support arrangements at the boat’s port. The buyer receives follow-up from the sales team after making an enquiry or attending a viewing.
Price, timing and conditions are discussed with the seller. EYB facilitates those discussions, but the owner decides whether to proceed with an offer.
Spain’s published recreational-craft procedures do not specify a separate licence for a yacht sales broker. They do, however, require the vessel’s registered ownership details to be updated after a sale in Cantabria. Before advertising the boat, identify whether its papers are under the general Spanish registration system or the special route for eligible CE-marked boats no longer than 12 metres. Spanish Maritime Administration, ownership and registration procedures
The Spanish record is updated through a transfer notification made by the seller, or optionally the buyer, within three months. The application must be backed by papers showing the transfer. The paperwork should identify the same craft shown on the registration certificate, and the parties should keep a signed copy of the sale agreement. EU guidance says Union status normally continues while the boat remains in the customs territory; retain the invoice and relevant import evidence. European Commission, guidance on VAT and customs for pleasure craft Spanish Maritime Administration, recreational craft registration
In Cantabria, EYB arranges local brokerage support consistent with these requirements, while a qualified lawyer prepares the contract of sale and handles registration. Keep a file linking the seller, the identified craft and its registration record. European Commission, guidance on VAT and customs for pleasure craft
If you are looking for a boat in Cantabria, tell EYB the type of boat, your budget and the stretch of coast you prefer. The sales team replies in the relevant languages and puts you in touch with the right local support.
A prospective buyer can request a visit through EYB’s sales team. The owner approves access, and local support can help coordinate arrangements at the Cantabria berth. Any survey or sea trial is agreed between the parties in advance, including timing, scope and access; the surveyor acts independently.
When you make an offer, EYB passes it to the owner and helps both sides agree the price and conditions. The lawyer then prepares the sale contract, and the purchase moves to deposit and completion, set out below.
EYB’s process provides for a 10% deposit from the buyer into escrow. The parties’ contract should make the holder, release conditions and other relevant payment terms clear before they proceed.
When all conditions agreed for the sale have been satisfied, the balance is transferred directly to the seller. Completion follows the transaction documents, with EYB helping the parties keep to the agreed sequence.
Seller's checklist
Cantabria features two marinas listed by European Yacht Brokers. Puerto Deportivo de Laredo offers 857 berths. Marina del Cantábrico in Santander has 300 berths and accommodates boats up to 23 metres in length.
At Puerto Deportivo de Laredo, the marina’s maritime entrance lies within a large bay between a curved breakwater of more than 700 metres and the southern breakwater, with the navigation channel reported at more than 5 metres relative to port datum. Its port information gives a depth of 2 to 3 metres at mean low water, while PredictWind notes floating docks, negligible tidal flow, overseas-visitor berths and an active winter season. Marina del Cantábrico is situated at the bottom of Santander Bay with a minimum draft of 8 metres and a maximum boat length of 23 metres; it is described as a safe port where weather information is available though public transport to the marina is limited. VHF channel 9 is used for communication at Marina del Cantábrico.

In Cantabria, you may use a yacht broker for your boat. The broker oversees everything from valuation and sale terms to negotiations with buyers. Local expertise ensures viewings go smoothly, and a qualified lawyer manages contracts, registration, and compliance with all relevant Spain rules.
The mandate and sale contract are prepared by EYB’s qualified lawyer, who also manages registration and other relevant administrative steps for the transaction.
EYB’s commission is a flat 5%. The amount is agreed with the owner at the outset and written into the mandate together with the other sale terms, so the owner can review the appointment before promotion begins.
A buyer can visit by arranging an appointment with the sales team. The seller approves access, and local support can help coordinate the visit at the vessel’s Cantabria berth.
The parties may agree an independent survey and, where appropriate, a sea trial. They decide the scope, schedule and access conditions in advance, and the buyer appoints the surveyor independently.
A 10% deposit is paid into escrow. The written sale terms set out how it is held and released; after the conditions are satisfied, the balance goes straight to the seller.
