Find a Yacht Broker Spain

Yacht broker Spain support starts at EYB head office, where yacht owners and buyers in Spain receive professional advice on valuation and sales terms. We coordinate the entire process, appointing a knowledgeable local broker who manages viewings and responds to area-specific enquiries. All contracts and registration are overseen by our qualified legal team, ensuring compliance with local laws. The marketing department works to maximise the boat’s visibility in both national and international markets, while multilingual sales agents handle all negotiations and buyer communications. Rely on EYB for a smooth, managed yacht sale or purchase experience in Spain.

IN BRIEF

Yacht Broker Spain

For a boat in Spain, EYB brings together head-office management, local support, a qualified lawyer, international marketing and an experienced multilingual sales team.

EYB head office valuation desk, yacht broker Spain

Start with EYB head office

To begin, contact EYB head office and describe the boat, its equipment, history, condition and location in Spain. The team will discuss your objectives and make an initial valuation using the information provided.

You can then review the proposed sale approach and agree the mandate with EYB. The commission is a flat 5%; the written mandate records that figure and the other agreed terms before the listing is promoted.

The valuation informs the conversation about price, but the accepted offer and completion terms are decided by the buyer and seller.

A Mediterranean network with local support

EYB combines central coordination with support close to the boat. Head office manages the wider sale and links the owner, legal team, marketing department and sales team, while local support can help with enquiries about the boat’s marina and arrange visits.

This matters in Spain, where buyers may want practical information about the berth, access or local arrangements before making a journey. A contact familiar with the area can help explain those details and coordinate a viewing with the seller.

The network also gives a locally based boat exposure to buyers beyond its home port.

The people handling your sale

Yacht sale contract prepared by a lawyer in Spain

Legal support for the transaction

The legal department has a qualified lawyer who prepares the mandate and the contract used for the boat sale. The lawyer also handles registration and other administrative steps relevant to the transaction.

The owner first reviews the mandate, which captures the sale terms agreed with EYB. If an offer is accepted, the sale contract reflects the conditions agreed between the buyer and seller. The paperwork follows the facts of that boat and transaction.

In Spain, the same legal support applies to the boat’s sale, with administration handled for the specific vessel. The lawyer coordinates the required documents with the parties as the transaction progresses.

Yacht photography and marketing in Spain

Marketing built around the boat

A listing needs to be visible and useful. EYB’s marketing department uses SEO, social media and the relevant national and international boat-sales platforms to bring the boat to prospective buyers.

The team prepares the presentation around the actual vessel: specifications, equipment, condition, history, photographs and location in Spain. Clear, supportable details help clients decide whether the boat fits their needs and what questions to ask next.

Marketing does not end when the listing goes live. The department can coordinate changes to the presentation with the sales team as enquiries arrive, while ensuring that published information reflects what the owner has confirmed.

A multilingual sales team

The sales team turns interest into a managed conversation. It responds to prospective buyers, gathers questions, coordinates viewings and supports price and condition discussions in the relevant languages.

Local support can assist when a buyer wants to visit a boat berthed in Spain. The team checks availability with the owner and helps arrange an appointment, then follows up after the visit if the buyer needs further information.

If an offer is made, EYB helps the parties communicate clearly about the proposed terms. The seller remains responsible for deciding whether the offer is acceptable and agreeing the final conditions.

Brokerage requirements in Spain

Spanish maritime procedures set out registration and ownership-transfer duties for recreational boats, but do not create a separate yacht-sales broker licence. In Spain, a broker should therefore distinguish the brokerage agreement from the statutory change of owner. Check whether the craft uses the general flagging and registration route or the special registration regime available to certain CE-marked boats up to 12 metres; retain its current registration certificate or navigation permit. Spanish Maritime Administration, ownership and registration procedures

The seller must notify the Maritime Administration of the transfer within three months of its date; the buyer may also notify it. The filing must include documents that justify the change. The signed sale agreement, vessel identification and current registry papers help connect the contract to the record being changed. EU customs guidance says a boat remaining in EU customs territory normally retains Union-goods status; retain invoices and import evidence relevant to VAT. European Commission, guidance on VAT and customs for pleasure craft Spanish Maritime Administration, recreational craft registration

EYB arranges local brokerage support in line with these requirements, and its qualified lawyer prepares the sale contract and handles registration. Compare the seller’s title with the vessel and register details, then retain signed copies of the completed file. European Commission, guidance on VAT and customs for pleasure craft

Viewings and surveys

The sales team coordinates enquiries and viewing requests with the owner and local support near the boat’s port in Spain. The parties can arrange an independent survey and, if agreed, a sea trial. Timing depends on access, availability and the seller’s approval; the surveyor is independent and the parties agree the scope and practical arrangements in advance.

Deposit and completion

EYB’s process provides for a 10% deposit from the buyer into escrow. The parties’ contract should make the holder, release conditions and other relevant payment terms clear before they proceed.

When all conditions agreed for the sale have been satisfied, the balance is transferred directly to the seller. Completion follows the transaction documents, with EYB helping the parties keep to the agreed sequence.

Seller's checklist

  • Gather the ownership documents, registration papers and tax status.
  • Collect invoices, manuals and the maintenance history.
  • Prepare an up-to-date inventory of equipment.
  • Agree the mandate, asking price and viewing arrangements in writing.
  • Have the boat clean, tidy and ready to demonstrate its systems.
  • Weigh every offer with written conditions and clear timings.
  • Arrange secure payment and handover with a signed record.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a yacht broker for a boat in Spain?

You can use a yacht broker to help sell or buy a boat in Spain. The brokerage manages the process, from initial valuation to marketing and negotiation. Local brokers handle viewings, while legal experts take care of contracts and paperwork, so every step meets Spain’s requirements.

Who prepares the sale mandate and contract?

EYB assigns this work to a qualified lawyer. That lawyer prepares the sales mandate and contract and deals with registration and other administrative requirements connected with the particular sale.

What commission does EYB charge?

EYB charges a flat 5% commission under the seller’s agreed mandate. The commission and sale terms are documented before the boat is marketed.

Can buyers view a boat in Spain?

A buyer can visit by arranging an appointment with the sales team. The seller approves access, and local support can help coordinate the visit at the vessel’s Spain berth.

Can a buyer arrange a survey or sea trial?

Surveys and sea trials can be arranged by agreement. The parties set the appointment and scope beforehand; the surveyor works independently of EYB and the seller.

How is the buyer’s deposit handled?

The buyer’s 10% deposit goes into escrow under the agreed sale process. The contract identifies the holder and release conditions. Once every agreed condition is met, the remaining balance is paid directly to the seller.

Which ports does this Spain page cover?

This page covers the 161 marinas in Spain on the EYB list, across 12 regions. Each region has its own page, linked in the section below.

Does EYB advertise boats internationally?

How do I request an initial valuation?

To begin a valuation, provide the model, year, current berth, photographs and a clear description of condition and equipment. EYB head office will discuss the boat and next steps with you.
