Selling a boat in Patitíri
When the survey on your boat at Patitíri turns up a problem, we arrange the inspection and the solution, so the sale keeps moving. Beforehand, we qualify every buyer and organise the viewings and sea trials. At the end, we handle the contract, the legal side and the transfer of ownership. As the seller, you have nothing to do.
Every valuation starts with a thorough market study. We have access to data on boats that have actually sold, and for each boat we weigh the age, the prices achieved for comparable boats, its options, the condition, the service record and where it lies. There is no charge for the valuation, so you start from a figure grounded in real sales.
Condition, model, age and equipment set the value of a boat, and the area matters as well. Some boats sell better in America than in Greece, and vice versa, and a boat at Patitíri is judged on that basis, which is why the area is part of every valuation we give.
The market matters too. When the economy is strong, boats sell well, and when credit is available, buyers can pay for them; when it dries up, fewer can. So we combine the valuation with patience and wide publicity on over 20 international platforms, on social media and on our own website, which attracts many buyers. In most cases, that finds the right buyer, and our commission is just 5%.

The hardest part of selling a boat is finding a serious buyer. Owners who sell privately often meet about 20 tyre-kickers before they throw in the towel and turn to a broker. It can also be an unpleasant experience: much like selling a second-hand car, you deal with buyers who can be very disagreeable indeed.
Then comes the money. With so much scamming about today, you want a representative handling the payment, not you alone. The paperwork is complicated too, particularly when the boat changes flag or must be re-registered. Insurance can be a problem, and someone has to check that the boat has no finance outstanding on it.
A broker also gets a better price than you will, and that is his job. For a 5% commission you are probably ahead anyway, and you do no work. At European Yacht Brokers, we speak six languages, list on over 20 international platforms including YachtWorld, and organise the contract, the legal side and the transfer of ownership for owners at Patitíri.
You give us a mandate to sell your boat. Exclusivity is not always required, and we decide it case by case. You can terminate the contract at any time.* *If a buyer we introduced during the mandate buys the boat later, we are still entitled to our commission.
A careful photo shoot, with the boat clean, tidy and shot in favourable light, is the first filter a buyer applies. Photos of the exterior, interior, deck, engine room and technical details, supplemented where useful by a short video, present the boat fully and consistently with the asking price, cutting down on pointless viewings.
The specification sheet gathers verified data: builder, model, year, dimensions, engines, equipment and work carried out. On this basis the listing is published on the main boating portals and shared with the broker network and professional contacts, to reach qualified buyers at home and abroad.
Before publication it helps to gather the ownership documents, the registration papers, evidence of VAT status where relevant, engine manuals, maintenance invoices and the inventory of equipment. Well-ordered paperwork speeds up the buyer’s checks and makes the negotiation more solid.
Every enquiry is checked before anyone sets foot on your boat. We establish who the buyer is, whether the buyer is serious and what the buyer wants, so the tyre-kickers never reach your berth at Patitíri. Because we advertise on over 20 international platforms and answer in six languages, enquiries come from buyers in many countries, and every one of them is qualified the same way.
We organise the viewings and the sea trial, so you do not need to show anyone round yourself. The sea trial is at the buyer’s expense, with a professional, insured captain, or you can be present yourself. That isn’t always advisable, because sellers are attached to their boats and buyers can use a sea trial to try to get the price down, but it is your decision.
Before a viewing, the boat should be clean, with its systems ready to demonstrate, the records to hand, access agreed and its condition described honestly. We tell you when a viewing is booked, so the boat is ready when the buyer arrives.
You give us a mandate to sell your boat. When we have a suitable offer, we put it to you. If you accept it, we go ahead; if not, we ask the buyer for a counter-offer, and the decision at each step is yours.
Once you accept an offer, we ask the buyer for a 10% deposit, paid into an escrow account. He can then arrange a survey and have the boat lifted out of the water at Patitíri, all at his own expense. If the survey is good, we go ahead with a sea trial, also at his expense, with a professional, insured captain, or with you on board if you prefer.
We then wait up to 15 working days for the survey report. If there is nothing structurally wrong with the boat, the sale goes ahead. If something is broken, it is fixed at the seller’s expense, and we organise the inspection and the solution. We also help you organise lifting the boat out of the water and give you a list of surveyors we are satisfied with, so the survey does not slow the sale down.
We take care of the contract, the legal side and the transfer of ownership for your sale at Patitíri, so you do nothing. The 10% deposit is paid into an escrow account, and the balance goes straight to the seller.
Changing flag or re-registering a boat makes the paperwork complicated, and insurance can be a problem. We check too that the boat has no finance outstanding on it.
With so much scamming about today, you need a representative managing the payment, not you alone. That is part of our work: we organise the contract, we deal with the legal side, and we see the transfer of ownership through, so the sale at Patitíri is finished properly. For our 5% commission you are probably ahead anyway, and you do no work.
Seller's checklist

The harbour is protected but busy with ferries and excursion boats regularly navigating through it. Weather conditions can be influenced by strong southeasterly winds, which may affect the sea state. Mariners should be aware of this when planning to keep a boat in the area to accommodate any potential impact on manoeuvrability and comfort. Despite these factors, the location is commonly used for berthing due to its sheltered nature.
A boat based at Patitíri can cruise to Skopelos, Skiathos, Kyra Panagia, Peristera and Skyros, all accessible under marine-park rules. These destinations offer a range of protected waters suitable for navigation while respecting local regulations. The best time to sail in this area aligns with the standard Mediterranean season, taking account of marine-park restrictions and weather conditions. Sensitive environments require adherence to the rules to preserve the marine habitat. Planning for these routes should consider the specific guidelines associated with each destination within the marine park.
Boats for sale Patitíri are published in the European Yacht Brokers archive as local brokers add and verify them. If you are considering selling, your boat can be presented to buyers searching in this area and in nearby ports: give the model, year and condition for a first valuation.
Following the 1965 earthquake that damaged the old hill village, Patitiri became the principal settlement of Alonissos. This change marked a significant moment in the island’s more recent history. The relocation helped shape the character of the island as it is known today.
The National Marine Park information centre provides insight into the local environment, complemented by a nearby museum detailing the area’s history. Several beaches are within easy reach for leisure and relaxation. Old Alonissos offers an opportunity to explore traditional architecture and heritage. Boat trips through the marine park allow observation of the area’s marine life and natural settings from the water.
Patitíri port offers water, food, pharmacies, ATMs, fuel arrangements, restaurants and ferries. There is no confirmation regarding substantial yacht repairs in the area. These facilities provide essential supplies and services for visiting yachts.
Seasonal cultural events take place on Alonissos Island throughout the year. However, there is no confirmation of a recurring marina regatta being held as part of the annual calendar. These events contribute to the local cultural scene without specifying a fixed schedule or particular celebrations within the marina context.
